Guangdong Aquatic Immunity and Health Aquaculture Engineering Technology Research Center Meeting Held in Our University

On September 22, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the founding of our school, the first technical committee meeting of Guangdong Aquatic Immunization and Health Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center was held in our school. Liu Yahong, president of our university, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. At the same time, he issued a letter of appointment for the head of the center and members of the technical committee.

In his speech, Liu Yahong emphasized that our school has always attached great importance to the construction of aquatic disciplines. In 2016, Oceanographic College was established, and in 2017, marine science specialty was added. In the context of the strategic needs of the national development plan for the Dawan District of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the school has established the Guangdong Aquatic Immunity and Health Aquaculture Engineering and Technology Research Center approved by the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department, and relies on the Ocean College for construction. Focusing on the key technical issues of healthy aquaculture, the center integrates the functions of scientific research, personnel training and achievement transformation, establishes an open and shared platform, builds an innovative R&D team with leading domestic and international competitiveness, bases itself on Guangdong and faces the whole country, and becomes an innovative highland of aquaculture science and technology with distinctive regional characteristics and a talent training center, which further promotes Guangdong. The comprehensive and sustainable development of the economy and society of the strong aquatic provinces and marine powers.

Liu Yahong expressed the hope that through this meeting, peer experts from all over the world would be invited to take the lead and give more valuable opinions, so as to provide better suggestions for the precise positioning and future development of Guangdong Aquatic Immunization and Health Aquaculture Engineering Technology Research Center.

The school employs Nie Pin, a researcher of the Institute of Aquatic Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the director of the Technical Committee, Professor Zhang Yuanxing, East China University of Science and Technology, Jiang Shigui, a researcher of the South China Sea Institute of Fisheries, Professor Wang Weimin, Huazhong Agricultural University, Professor Tan Hongxin, Shanghai Ocean University, Professor Lin Li, Zhongkai College of Agricultural Engineering, Chen Xinhua, Fujian Agricultural and Fore Member, Professor Liu Wensheng of Oceanographic College is the director of the Center.

At the meeting, the Technical Committee of Guangdong Aquatic Immunization and Health Aquaculture Engineering Technology Research Center listened to Liu Wensheng's work report, and conducted inquiries and discussions. Experts agree that Guangdong is a major province of aquaculture. It is necessary to build the engineering and technical research center of aquaculture immunity and health in Guangdong Province, strengthen the research and development of aquaculture technology and improve the level of innovation. South China Agricultural University has a long history, good research conditions, prominent regional advantages, obvious characteristics of production, teaching and research, and fruitful research results. The center has clear objectives, clear ideas, feasible plans, reasonable measures, solid pre-work, and is confident of the successful construction of the center. At the same time, the experts also put forward targeted suggestions.

The meeting was presided over by Director Yuan Wencai of the School Key Construction Office. Xin Qixing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ocean College, read out the relevant appointment documents. Academic Report

In the afternoon, the Academic Seminar and the 27th Ocean Forum were held at the forum of the University of Moving Science and Technology. Nie Pin, a researcher, made a report on the systematic study of type I interferon in lower vertebrates and Professor Wang Weimin, a report on the research status of germplasm resources and breeding of Megalobrama. Professor Qin Qiwei, Dean of Oceanographic College, presided over the academic seminar. Teachers, postgraduates and undergraduates of the College participated in the seminar.
