Our university and Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of marine science and engineering of South China signed a cooperation agreement

On December 3, the signing ceremony of the second group of co construction units of Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of South marine science and Engineering (Zhuhai) (hereinafter referred to as South Marine Laboratory) was held in Zhuhai.

Wen Xiaobo, vice president of South China Agricultural University, signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with sun Dongbai, executive vice president of Sun Yat sen University, and Chen Dake, director of South China Ocean laboratory. Zeng Lu, director of Foundation Committee of basic and applied basic research of Guangdong Province, Yan Wu, deputy mayor of Zhuhai City attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Academician Chen Dake introduced the construction of South Ocean laboratory. The second batch of cooperative construction units include universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong, as well as 14 national marine environment prediction centers and relevant enterprises and institutions.

In November 2018, Guangdong provincial Party committee and government launched the construction of Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of marine science and Engineering in South China. At present, the laboratory has 17 innovation teams, gathering more than 600 excellent talents at home and abroad, including 13 academicians, 35 thousand people, and 58 outstanding young people. In Zhuhai Campus of Sun Yat sen University, South Ocean laboratory will rely on 100000 square meters of coastal main building and supporting facilities such as Tianhe No.2 supercomputing, 6800 tons of marine comprehensive scientific research practice ship, vigorously promote the construction of seven international first-class, domestic leading public platforms, take a positive step in the innovation of system and mechanism, respect the initiative, strive for the best, and uphold co construction, sharing and win-win In principle, we will conduct in-depth cooperation with all co construction units in major innovation project research, marine reserve talents training and other aspects, and work together to build the South Ocean laboratory into a marine strategic scientific and technological force that embodies the will of the country, realizes the national mission, represents the national level, and a world-class highland for marine talents, serving the national major marine strategy.

At the exchange meeting of co construction units, Professor Liu Wensheng introduced the basic situation, the basis of cooperative research, the fields of cooperation and preliminary ideas.

More than 200 people attended the ceremony, including Tai Zhongzhi, vice president of Zhongshan University, Wang Lei, director of Zhuhai science and technology innovation Bureau, guests and representatives from all co construction units.
